Club FacilitiesThe NDWC is lucky to have its own dedicated facilities. In our club rooms, we have a range of lathes suited to beginners and veterans. Each lathe is set up with tools, and safety and sharpening equipment is available. We encourage turners to make use of our kitchen and take a break as needed. Beginners are provided with wood for their training projects and the club sells a range of exotic and native timbers, as well as a basic selection of woodturning consumables. Members are encouraged to build up their own measuring, marking, sanding and finishing supplies over time. We also have a library of instructional, inspirational and other reference material that is available for loan to members, and a display and demonstration area.
The club rooms are open to woodturners several times a week (see current sessions) and there is always an experienced woodturner on hand to help. As well as open sessions for turning anything, the club holds a monthly meeting looking at specific techniques with either a full demonstration or a hands on session. |
