Can you teach me to turn wood?
Yes, the club has a training programme for new members and ongoing development for our experienced turners.
What can I make?
Beginners tend to start with rollers, egg cups, goblets and bowls, but we make all kinds of objects (which you can see in our gallery) - including ones which are not round! Baffled? Come along to our demonstrations.
How long does it take to learn to turn wood?
Woodturners are lifetime learners. Generally, though, between 10 and 20 sessions will have you independently using a lathe on your own projects.
Can you fix or make something for me? Can I buy that piece I love?
Some of our members do sell their work and can do commissioned work. Please contact the club president to enquire.
I have a tree - do you want it?
No, we but we would love the wood from it! We have no tree-felling capabilities but will be happy to take any larger sections (more than 300mm diameter) off your hands - and maybe turn you something from your tree to say thanks.
Please contact the club president to enquire.
I have a lathe or some other turning equipment - can I sell it through the club?
Yes, we can offer your equipment to our members for sale in our newsletter. The club also welcomes any donated equipment. Please contact the club president to enquire.
I still have a question. How can I get the answer?
